Richardson Arts Alliance
The Richardson Arts Alliance was formed in 1986 as the Richardson Arts and Historical Association at the request of the Richardson Arts Commission as an umbrella organization of local arts groups. In 1987, the group formalized its nonprofit status and became Richardson Arts Association. 1997 saw another name change to Richardson Arts Council along with bylaw revisions to add individuals as members at large. The recent change to Richardson Arts Alliance (RAA) was made to alleviate confusion with the City’s Richardson Arts Commission. RAA was very involved in the initial discussions and plans to build a performing arts facility in the area which culminated in the September 2002 opening of the Charles W. Eisemann Center.
The Richardson Arts Alliance provides a quarterly newsletter published twice yearly with the generous support of the City of Richardson. RAA has an active role in the Widlflower! Music and Arts Festival and a number of the member groups who perform at the Eisemann Center. An annual dance scholarship is given out of an endowment left to the RAA. Proceeds of the Heart of the Arts program will go to further the mission and programs of the Richardson Arts Alliance.
